Welcome To Your Perfect Foyer

Date: May 27, 2016

Welcoming friends into your home is something at which we should all strive to be great. Having a beautifully appointed foyer is a crucial element of this goal. It is the first space that guests see in your home. Don’t you want to make a good first impression? Obviously foyers vary in shape and size based on your floor plan, but even in the smallest of foyers there are ways to spruce it up for that all important first impression.

A foyer with a straight up stair case and hallway can be very welcoming when well appointed. Add artwork, narrow furniture, and a handsome runner to keep a nice flow to the space.

If your home is more on the casual side, make it easy for everyone to sit down, take off their shoes, and hang their coats. Built-ins are great or you can use a comfortable bench and pretty coat hooks. Oh, and always have a pretty rug.

A small area presents an opportunity for a delicate console and restrained accessories and artwork. Don’t go with anything too heavy in such a confined space. It will start to feel claustrophobic.

Does your front door open up straight into a wall? It’s a perfect opportunity for magnificent artwork and beautiful piece of furniture. It will set the tone for your whole home.

If you have no space for furniture, make an impact with a stand out lighting fixture and artwork or pictures on the walls. Utilizing that wall space will add so much interest that no one will even realize the lack of furniture.
